In ancient folklore, the Acorn is a symbol of strength and power. Because the acorn only appears on a mature oak tree, it is symbolic of the patience needed to attain goals over long periods of time. It represents perseverance and hard work. In many cultures, the oak is a sacred, venerated tree.

BxAcorn chose the acorn as its symbol of recovery because life begins as a weak and vulnerable seed, but matures into a mighty tree. Such is the hope for all who are clients of BxAcorn.

The GENESIS of BxACORN

Life in Recovery…Imagine the Possibilities

A Letter from the Founders

Hello!

As founders and owners, we welcome you to the website of the BxAcorn family of recovery centers.

Like most families our lives have also been touched by addiction. For almost two years we researched addiction recovery models across the country. We were shocked to discover the enormity of the addiction epidemic and the lack of cohesive recovery options. The striking feature was the fractiousness and inefficiency of recovery models. We wondered, “Isn’t there a better way?”

In October 2012, we opened a residential recovery home in coastal Georgia. It provided us an opportunity to refine and apply the best components of the comprehensive recovery models we researched.  Our intent was to provide a solid structure for effective, long-term recovery.  By taking this approach we developed our systems for recovery.

In 2014, we expanded our presence to include Atlanta and Marietta, Georgia. We assembled a team of highly skilled and experienced, licensed and certified therapists, board-certified psychiatrists, and an addictionologist specializing in both substance disorders and behavioral health issues.

How is BxAcorn different?

Our approach to recovery is based on individualized treatment that provides each person a solid structure upon which to begin building the necessary disciplines and healthy habits critical to sustain long-term recovery.

Each client is assigned a compatible Concierge Case Manager (CCM) who, along with the Treatment Team, guides them through their individualized treatment. Clinical modalities may include:

  • Individual Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • My Brain Solutions (cognitive and emotional skills-building)
  • Experiential Therapy (Yoga, Equine, Ropes)
  • Rapid Resolution Therapy

At the end of treatment clients will have developed their own individualized ‘tool box’ of skills necessary for building the framework for long-term recovery that they have begun.

These tools include mindfulness skills, emotion-regulation skills, distress tolerance skills, interpersonal effectiveness skills, an understanding of family dynamics and the ability to communicate effectively with families and set healthy boundaries with family members, employment skills, a sober support network, and for those who have successfully engaged in 12-step recovery, a “spiritual awakening” that is truly life-transforming.

We respect the fact that each person’s road to addiction is unique, and therefore believe that the road to recovery should also be unique. Successful models demonstrate the effectiveness of an individualized versus an institutionalized approach to recovery. Personal experience provides the best outcome results. We hope you will read some of our testimonials included on the Testimonial Tab.

No matter what you are going through…..help is available at BxAcorn.
